  Who are Greenpower? We'll let their website do the talking:

  "The Greenpower Education Trust’s objective is to advance education in the subjects of sustainable engineering and technology to young people."

  IET F24 is a racing competition run by Greenpower, where students from all over the UK aged between 11 and 16 come together over a shared love of STEM and motorsport to design and build their own electric cars. Teams receive the same motors and batteries for every car (with all other essentials, including kitcars, available from their website), and so the focus is on design and efficiency. The cars are designed and built by the teams, and raced at events up and down the country in 90 minute endurance heats, with an International Final at the end of the season for the heat winners. It is truly a fantastic experience, and one we're privileged to take part in.

TEAM FIREFLY

Team Firefly was founded by a group of friends at St Paul's School with far too much ambition and not nearly enough money. Having worked together on the ESA's BalloonSat experiment, we were eager to once again engage in a long-term STEM project, and a joint passion for motorsport and automotive engineering soon brought us to F24. Over the course of almost one and a half years (at the time of writing) we've developed from no money and a handful of grubscrews to a fully-fledged car, and - although we'd be lying if we said it was easy - we've had so much fun with the project that we have absolutely no intentions of stopping here. All of us have learnt some incredible skills we'd otherwise have never even considered, and many of our team have their hearts set on careers in British engineering already.

What does the future hold for Firefly? We don't know, but one thing we can assure you - we don't plan to go away any time soon.
